1. Get the cheapest wine on the menu
2. Don’t eat at the restaurants near tourist attractions.
3. “Rome” the streets to find areas of paradise
4. Tourist season is year round
5. Unlike Paris you don’t need dinner reservations anywhere just pop in to any delicious Trattoria and your belly will be filled with something delicious
6. Pack-black boots and sneakers
7. Try the 4 pastas! Cacio e peppe, Bucatini all’amatriciana, Spaggheti alla carbonara, Pasta alla Gricia

First day in Rome in 8 years! Emma is studying here in this marvelous city and I am especially enjoying her showing me around (between her classes). My own personal tour guide! Tomorrow sadly is my last day and then back home but can’t leave without drinking all the wine, eating cannoli, gelato, cheese, and of course hoping to try the four essential pasta dishes Rome is most known for….while visiting every historical landmark (I haven’t yet in my life seen!)

Paris. Ahhh…the city of light! What to do with your daughter when you only have only a weekend in Paris? It’s a big city filled with history, culture, and we were guided thru an action packed weekend highlighting the highly sought after fashion and of course savory + sweet foods!

Helpful hints: always and I mean ALWAYS say bonjour when entering a store, merci to try to fool the French (and make them think you’re not American) and au revoir when leaving, put google translate on your phone, speak softly, don’t spread your cheese on your bread (I know but it’s so soft) and don’t worry about not seeing the Mona Lisa…don’t we know what she looks like anyway? Oh and as for shopping….the clothes/shoes/bags are tres chic!!

Spending my 50th in Tuscany with mi famiglia is a dream come true. Tasting Chianti wines all day throughout the rolling hills of Tuscany I can now check off my bucket list. I am blessed.
